Airi needed a blood and plasma transfusion after a difficult caesarean section – she lost 1.5-2 litres of blood.“That transfusion was extremely important for me if I was to survive,” she says. “I’m a lab technician myself, and I match up patients with transfusions every day and I know how important it is to give blood because so many patients need a transfusion.”

A heart ailment keeps her from giving blood herself, something she regrets, but she says her husband has caught her enthusiasm for donations. Airi sounds the call for everyone to give blood if they can. “I am grateful from the bottom of my heart to every donor.”
